A different kind of "senior session"
Usually when someone reaches out looking for senior photos, I'm expecting a senior in high school. But much to my absolute pleasure, Andrea and Kristin were looking to document their senior chihuahua, Frida, and her brother, Norman.
I love photographing pets, but that is especially true as a pet mom who experienced a health scare with her pup and the very sudden passing of her cat. When my dog Alfredo got sick I recognized that 1. Almost all the photos I had of him only lived on my phone, and 2. Hardly any of them had us together. Alfie is not just part of my family, but a great, big piece of my life's story. I had already missed the opportunity to document my sweet kitty boy Griffin; I wanted to be sure to document my time with Alfredo before it was too late. The photos we took together are some I'll cherish for the rest of my life, keeping the love and joy Alfie has brought me in my home and heart long after he has crossed the rainbow bridge.
We decided a lifestyle session at home would be best for Frida's health and comfort. But while Frida might be getting up there in age, she absolutely isn't in spirit. When her moms weren't giving her snuggles and kisses, she was chasing rabbits around the yard and investigating my camera--for quality control, of course. Norman, a little more skeptical of the strange lady invading his personal space, did an excellent job of playing the supportive brother and accepting his own set of snuggles. Considering how gushy their photos make me feel, I know Kristin and Andrea will have some beautiful memories from this evening at home to look back and reflect on.
